Seitens des Landkreises wird das Grundstück des ehemaligen Kreispflegeheims an der Jesauer Straße favorisiert, da dieses Grundstück dem Landkreis gehört. 
Am 26. April 2010 sollte der Kreistag diesen Standort beschließen. Durch Intervention des Oberbürgermeisters Roland Dantz und der Kreisräte wurde dieser Beschlussantrag zurück gezogen mit der Maßgabe bis zur nächsten Kreistagssitzung am 21. Juni 2010 eine Lösung zu finden.
Die Stadträte kennen seit Ende April die veränderte Standortfrage und haben gemeinsam mit dem Oberbürgermeister nach geeigneten Standorten gesucht. Da wir als Stadträte seitens des Landkreises wenig Informationen hatten, wurde am gestrigen Abend eine Sonderstadtratssitzung einberufen.
Nach heftigen Debatten zwischen der Einwohnerschaft und dem Verantwortlichen des Landkreises Herr Runge beschloss der Kamenzer Stadtrat mehrheitlich folgende Kompromisslösung:
1. Der Stadtrat der Stadt Kamenz lehnt die Errichtung und Betreibung eines Asylbewerberheims auf dem Areal des ehemaligen Kreispflegeheims in der Jesauer Straße (Flurstücke 1000/6, 1000/2 und 987/2 der Gemarkung Jesau) ab.
2. Zum Zweck der Betreibung eines Asylbewerberheims hält der Stadtrat der Stadt Kamenz den ursprünglich vorgesehenen Standort der ehemaligen Polizeischule für den geeignetsten. Daher fordert der Stadtrat der Stadt Kamenz den Landkreis Bautzen erneut auf, diesen Standort nochmals intensiv zu prüfen und zu untersuchen, ob durch konsequente Ausschöpfung aller Kostensenkungspotenziale eine Ertüchtigung des Gebäudes realisierbar ist.
